ThanksGiving

Good Afternoon CrossRoads Family!

We are past the Halloween Holliday, now headed toward Christmas... Wait I forgot about Thanksgiving!!! It is so easy to forget about Thanksgiving sometimes, or at least its pretty easy to forget how we as Christ Followers could be looking at it.

When we think about Thanksgiving we think about family, friends, Football, and of course FOOD! I want to take a moment and look beyond the obvious. How can the Thanksgiving season effect the Christ Follower?

Paul told the Church in Philippi, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." The Philippians when reading this knew that Paul had gone through some serious persecution, and was currently! Yet... in this encouragement Paul told them "in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving". This meant that regardless of what the people were experiencing they needed to be thankful to God.

As I was preparing the eUpdate today I felt God putting on my heart the need to encourage Thankfulness in our church. Not because we are not a thankful bunch of people, but rather because many of us are experiencing difficulty in life. In these times of difficulty, it is the most difficult to give thanks. I want to encourage each of us to give thanks to God through difficulty. Not necessarily thankful for the hard times, rather thankful that God is still in charge regardless of hard times.

Lets all show the world around us how Christ Followers deal in hard times... Thanksgiving!

Grace and Peace
