Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible is God's inerrant inspired Word. We revere its truth and respect its reproofs.
We believe that there is one true holy God, eternally existing in three persons:
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe that Scripture in its entirety originated with God and that it was given through the pens of chosen people. Therefore, scripture both speaks with the authority of God and reflects the background, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 | Hebrews 4:12; 10:24-25 | 2 Peter 1:13-21
We believe in one God, creator and sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.
Genesis1:26 | Deuteronomy 6:4 | Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19
We believe in God the Father, an infinite personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, justice, power and love. He is the Creator of heaven and earth. By His word and for His glory, He freely and supernaturally spoke the world into existence. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity, hears and answers prayer, saves from death, and gives eternal life to all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1 & 2 | Deuteronomy 32:4 | John 4:24; 16:23-27 | Galatians 4:4-6 | Ephesians 1:3, 1:17-23 | 1 John 4:8
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s eternal Son. He is fully God and fully human, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was always with God and is God. Through Him all things came into being and were created. He was before all things and in all things hold together by the word of His power. We believe that He lived a sinless life on earth and died a substitutionary death on the cross, that His sacrifice for the sins of all people satisfied God’s justice, and that all who believe in Him are freed from the penalty of sin and made acceptable before God on the grounds of His sin-payment. We believe that Jesus is the only way for a person to be saved. We believe that He is the visible image of the invisible God, the firstborn of
all creation, the Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth, and the Head of the church. We believe in His literal and physical resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father, His advocacy on behalf of His people, and in His visible return from heaven.
Matthew 1:18-23 | Luke 24:1-8 | John 1:1-3, 1:14, 14:6 | Acts 1:11 | 2 Corinthians 5:19-21 | Colossians 1:15-19 | Hebrews 1:3; 4:14-16; 3:1; 7:23-25 | 1 John 2:1-2 | Revelation 19:11-19
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity. He is fully God, eternally active in the world and sent by the Father and the Son to apply the saving work of Christ to humanity. He convicts the world of sin and leads people to repentance and to a confession of Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, guides, and empowers every believer at the moment of salvation as evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and He readily imparts supernatural Gifts for the building up of the Church and the mission of the Gospel worldwide. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the believer’s only source of power for transformation, for mission, and for service.
Matthew 28:19-20 | John 3:5 | Acts 1:8, 19:2-6 | Galatians 5:22 | 1 Corinthians 6:11, 6:19; 12:4-13 | 1 Thessalonians 1:4-6 | Ephesians 4:11 | 1 Peter 4:10
We believe God created all people in the image and likeness of God. We believe that God created male and female, sexually and biologically different but with equal dignity and value. We believe God created mankind in His image, forming each person in the womb from conception. We believe that all people are sinners because of the fall and make decisions that are contrary to the will of God. Those decisions have severe ramifications including separation from God and spiritual death. Being estranged from our Maker, yet responsible to Him, mankind became subject to divine wrath, inwardly depraved and apart from a special work of grace, utterly incapable of returning to God. Unregenerate man lives under the dominion of sin and Satan. Mankind is at enmity with God, hostile toward God, and hateful of God. Fallen, sinful people, whatever their character or attainments, are lost and without hope apart from salvation in Christ alone.
Genesis1:26-28; 2:7-9, 2:21-22; 3:19 | Psalm 139:13-16 | Romans 1:20-24; 3:23-24 | Ephesians 2:1-13
We believe the central purpose of God’s revelation in Scripture is to call all people into a relationship with Himself. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and that no one is saved apart from a conscious and personal decision to trust in Jesus as Savior. We believe that the free gift of salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, was paid for by Christ on the cross, is received by faith, and cannot be earned through good works or rituals. We believe that those who repent and trust Christ for salvation are born again and experience the blessings that God intended for them at creation. We believe that God loves and pursues people despite their rebellion. He offers forgiveness, healing and abundant life for anyone who would turn and surrender their life to Him. Salvation produces a desire to become more like Christ in character and purpose. We believe that sanctification begins at salvation and is not only a declaration of righteousness before God, but it is also a lifelong process of separating from evil, drawing closer to God, and becoming more like Christ.
1 Timothy 2:4-6 | John 1:12; 3:3-7, 3:16; 5:24; 14:16 | Acts 4:12 | Romans 5:8, 12-21; 6:23; 10:9-10; 13:8-10 | Titus 3:5 | Ephesians 2:8-10
We believe that the Church is a spiritual body with Jesus Christ as its head. The Apostle Paul refers to it as the Bride of Christ and we believe it is the key expression of God’s Kingdom manifested here on earth. We believe the Church is made up of all those who have surrendered their lives to Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe that Scripture commands believers to gather together for worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, baptism, communion, fellowship, service, and outreach. We also believe in the interdependence of local churches and mutual submission of believers to one another as well as spiritual leaders.
Matthew 28:18-20 | Acts 2:41-47 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 | Ephesians 5:21 | Colossians 1:18 | Hebrews 10:24-25;13:17 | Ephesians 5:25-33
We believe marriage is defined in the Bible as a lifelong commitment, a sacred bond between one man and one woman, instituted by and publicly entered into before God. We believe that God’s plan for marriage, and family are well defined in scripture and our conformity to His plans are an act of obedience and surrender. Marriage is a picture of Christ’s relationship with His Bride, the Church. God designed sexual intimacy for the marriage relationship between a husband and a wife and does not endorse or condone it in any other context. Consequently, any sexual expression outside of heterosexual marriage is prohibited by scripture. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and gift from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God’s pattern for faith, worship, righteousness, and practical Christian living so, at an appropriate age, may make a decision themselves to surrender their lives to Christ.
Genesis 1:27-28; 2:20-25 | Psalm 139:13-15 | Proverbs 22:6 | Matthew 19:4-9 | Ephesians 5:22-25; 31-33 | Titus 2:4-5 | 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
We believe in the personal, physical, and imminent second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for the Church. We believe there will be a resurrection of the body for all people, and a judgment that will determine the fate of each individual. We believe the nation of Israel has a special place in God’s plan, and that all of the promises of God to Israel will be fulfilled both now and in the second coming of Jesus Christ. Unbelievers will be eternally separated from God and believers will be received into eternal communion with God and will be rewarded for the way they have partnered with God in this lifetime.
